To War in Style Short Story eBook Mark Berent

In the January of 1973 we in the Defense Attaché Office in the American Embassy, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, found ourselves in an unusual situation. President Nixon had declared his Southeast Asia policy of Vietnamization was succeeding. In Vietnam, all US forces were ordered to cease fighting and that included air assets as well as the ground troops. Yet we had authorized air support until August 15.
To War in Style Short Story eBook Mark Berent
A personal account of Mark Berent's experiences in Cambodia while assigned to the Defense Attache` Office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 1973. This is almost exclusively a personal account with just enough information about the situation at large to put those experiences in context. An interesting if narrow window into U.S. operations in Cambodia, it is well written with a few editing glitches. Surprisingly to me, Berent, a fine author, misuses me and I in this little memoir. This seems to be a not uncommon occurrence in modern writing. This review is from the free Kindle edition published April 26, 2012.Product details

To War in Style Short Story eBook Mark Berent Reviews
I was Vietnam for 2.5 years. I enjoy reading books about the Vietnam war, I like the stories about and in the areas that I was in.
Excellent read, good author.
Interesting stories from a man who observed Vietnam from many perspectives. Not one of his most engaging tales but a quick, good read.
This is a decent short story; not terribly well written and could use some proofing. On the plus side it leaves you wanting more! I would love to hear more details about this tour
He has a way with words that make the stories come alive. This story is a glimpse into the wind down of a war he had invested a great deal of emotion and effort in winning.
Mark Berent is a very good writer in my opinion whether writing novels or short stories. He does and excellent job of making every story real, believable and, in this case, humorous. Loved it.
Reminds me of a different time and place than now. How people are able to take advantage of the situation that they find themselves in, instead of just sitting around and doing the job they are assigned. Strap hangers can have a world of fun and enjoyment and also do some great things by just talking advantage of the opportunities that are provided. I remember a good time being had by all and good things coming out of it. This was a very good read.
